Sleep, Hygiene, and Healthy Habits
Why is sleep important?
Sleep helps your body grow, heal, and get energy. It also helps your brain remember what you learned. Children ages 6 to 12 need about 9 to 12 hours of sleep each night, and children ages 3 to 5 need about 10 to 13 hours, including naps.
Washing your hands with soap and water removes germs that can make you sick. Scrub for at least 20 seconds, about as long as singing "Happy Birthday" two times. Wash before you eat and after you use the bathroom.
Brush your teeth two times a day for two minutes each time.
Eat fruits and vegetables, drink water, and move your body. Kids should be active for about 60 minutes every day.
